An opened-box Ledger can still be checked through app state, device state, and a clean setup path. What changes is the scope of the review. Packaging can no longer answer every arrival question, so the check should shift toward Ledger Wallet, the device screen, reset flow, recovery phrase boundary, and a clear record.
Separate what packaging can still tell you
After a box has been opened, packaging can still describe condition, accessory completeness, and the state in which the device was received. It cannot prove every earlier handling step. Keep the package note factual: what is present, what is missing, and what state the device shows before setup continues.

Use Ledger Wallet and Genuine Check for the app layer
The app layer still matters. Open Ledger Wallet from a fixed source, connect the device, and use the app and device screen together. Genuine Check is part of this app layer, and it should be performed after the entry path and device context are clear.

Reset flow and recovery phrase boundary are separate checks
If the device has prior state, the reset and setup path must be handled carefully. The recovery phrase used for your setup should be generated and recorded offline within your own setup flow. Close with a record that does not overstate certainty
The final note should say what was observed: opened box, accessory state, device screen, app result, reset/setup step, and next action. It should not overstate what packaging can prove after opening, and it should not include recovery words or PIN details. This keeps the review useful without creating a claim that the available observations cannot support.
