Ledger Wallet local lock protects access to the app interface on the computer or phone. It is different from the hardware device PIN. Before changing local lock settings, separate the app password, the device PIN, and the recovery phrase record so each item stays in the right place.

Use local lock for the app interface
The local lock or app password belongs to Ledger Wallet itself. It helps control who can open the app interface on that device, but it does not replace the hardware screen, device PIN, or setup prompts. If the app entry needs confirmation first, start from the Ledger Wallet download guide.
Keep the device PIN as a hardware action
The device PIN is entered on the Ledger device screen and is used to unlock the hardware. It is not the same as the local app lock. For a focused PIN boundary review, continue with the Ledger PIN guidance after the app lock setting is clear.
Do not mix local lock with recovery phrase records
Local lock settings do not ask for a recovery phrase. Recovery phrase records should remain offline and separate from the app interface. If the reader is reviewing backup language, the recovery phrase guide explains that boundary more directly.
Record the setting without exposing private notes
After enabling or changing local lock, record only the device, app version, and whether local lock is active. Do not store the password, PIN, or recovery phrase in ordinary notes. If the setting was changed during first setup, compare the flow with the first-time initialization guide.
