A firmware update should be run in an ordered flow: stable app entry, version prompt, device screen, and completion record. Changing cables or settings during the flow should be avoided unless the app state requires a connection check.
Open from a stable app entry
Start from a known Ledger Wallet entry and confirm the app is ready. If the app entry is the question, use Official App Download and Installation Guide.
Read the version prompt
Write down the version prompt before starting. This keeps the update record tied to the actual version shown in the app.
Follow the device screen
Do not rely on the computer screen alone. Read the Ledger device screen at each confirmation point and keep the task aligned.
Record the final state
After completion, record app state, device screen, model, and version. If connection does not return as expected, continue with After a Ledger Firmware Update.
