If a Ledger device disconnects during an update, the next useful step is a state review. Do not change several conditions at once. Note the app window, cable path, device screen, and the point where the update can be resumed or rechecked.
Freeze the Visible Update State
Start with what the app shows now: progress state, version prompt, or connection message. If the row follows firmware preparation, compare with Ledger Firmware Update Prep to keep preparation and update state connected.
Check Cable Path Before App Changes
Review the cable, port, and device screen before closing or reopening the app. The connection order in Connecting Ledger to a Computer is the right reference when USB state may have changed during an update.
Use the Same App Entry for Resume
Return through the same app entry instead of switching files or install paths. If the app presents an update prompt again, Ledger Wallet Update Check gives a compact way to read the version and prompt state.
Write the Resume Result
Record whether the device was recognized, whether the prompt returned, and whether the app showed a completion or retry state. Keep the record short so the next check starts from a clear visible state.
