Ledger PIN and recovery phrase are both part of the setup record, but they do different jobs. The PIN unlocks the hardware device for local use. The recovery phrase is the restore record used when a device is reset or replaced. Keeping the two roles separate makes later checks easier.
Use the PIN as a device-unlock control
The PIN is entered on the hardware device screen and belongs to device access. It should not be treated as a Ledger Wallet login field or stored in the same note as the recovery phrase. For a dedicated PIN review, see the Ledger PIN guidance.
Use the recovery phrase as the restore record
The recovery phrase is recorded from the device screen during setup and kept offline. It is used for restoration, not routine app entry. If the phrase itself needs a concept review, use the recovery phrase guide.
Keep app lock and device PIN separate
Ledger Wallet may also have local lock settings on a computer or phone. That app-level lock is different from the hardware PIN. If a local lock is being reviewed at the same time, record it as an app setting and keep the device PIN and phrase record out of ordinary notes.
